Are Mail Order Brides for Real?

If you are a regular online dating user, you have heard the term mail order brides being used frequently. The internet has replaced the picture catalogues of  brides seeking western men for marrriage.  It is within the last century that the "mail-order bride" became a part of the American lexicon.   Many people have the  attitude that a "mail order bride" are something a decent man will never consider: it is only desperate losers that would look for a partner at such sites. 

 A majority of men searching online, get caught up in all of the sexy photos of exotic asian women as potential brides. Dating scammers usually contact unsuspecting men through large Internet personals such as Friend Finder and others, and start professing love and desire for marriage after a few short letters. In the US there are thousands of dating services or agencies dedicated to just introducing people to each other (no mention is necessarily made of marriage).

What they are Looking for?

These women simply want to change their life for the better, to take care of their family and children. They used the following words when describing the type of man they are looking for :

• 86% of the women used the word "kind"
• 68% used the word "caring"
• 59% would like to find a man who is "family-oriented" and loves children
• 31% are looking for physically strong and fit men, who like sport
• 32% are seeking for "serious" men
• 6% would like to have "practically thinking" husbands
• 6% would like to meet handsome and charming men
•  0% mentioned the word "sexy".

In general, an unmarried asian woman does not leave the family nest when she reaches 18, unlike her Western counterparts. A majority of foreign brides are happy to be the homemaker and asks for nothing more than a husband, home, and family. They are close to their families back home and in some instances, there is a push from home to support the family. Western men should not be suprised that there new wife will want to earn money to send home rather than depend on him to support them as well. Most of the foreign brides are not concerned with your financial status, except for adequate provisions for a normal lifestyle.

Online Marriage Services

Marriage agencies that promote marriage for immigration purposes are strictly prohibited. Marriage agencies are obligated to provide immigration law information to their brides . There are no regulations restricting the operation of mail-order bride agencies in the US, as long as agencies abide by the Immigrant Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act:

• Are not committing fraud
• Are not involved in alien smuggling
• Are not involved in the importation of aliens for immoral purposes
• Are not establishing a commercial enterprise for the purpose of evading immigration laws
• Are not involved with involuntary servitude
• Are not involved in transporting people in interstate or foreign commerce or foreign commerce for the purpose of prostitution

Another area agencies must be careful in is when they offer visa assistance. According to immigration regulations, a visa consultant or any other person who is not a licensed attorney may only assist someone with completing immigration forms and applications for a nominal fee and cannot state that they are qualified expert in immigration laws.

Conclusion

The internet has made the world increasingly smaller, allowing people from different to countries and cultures to connect. All single women be they foreign women or not, are looking for a life partner who will be able to provide for their future family both emotionally and economically. Although there are challenges to meeting and marrying a women overseas, love is unpredictable. These women are searching for love and a better way of life and may possibly find it with you.
